My Story

Patricia E. Szobonya is an accomplished academic and legal professional, serving as an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, and Criminal Justice programs at Rockland Community College. With a legal education from New York Law School, she is licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey.

 

Her teaching extends across several departments including Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Business, and Multi-Cultural Studies. Patricia is deeply involved in international academic collaborations, having engaged with universities in Morocco, China, Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and South Africa. She has co-authored multiple publications on Virtual Exchange and regularly presents at national and international conferences on themes such as social justice, culturally responsive teaching, human rights, and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

 

In addition to her academic work, Patricia is a certified human rights consultant and holds a distinguished DEI certificate from the State University of New York (SUNY). She was awarded a 2024 Overseas Faculty Development Seminar fellowship in India by the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) and the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS). Her achievements also include being honored in the Marquis Who's Who 2024 and serving as a SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador.
